As global travel continues to rebound from disruptions caused by regional conflicts, New Zealand has revised its travel advisory for the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The advisory level has been reduced from Level 3, which discouraged non-essential travel, to Level 2, urging travelers to exercise increased caution. This change is part of a broader effort by the UAE to revive its international tourism sector.
The updated guidance from New Zealand allows its citizens to travel to or transit through the UAE more freely, though they are advised to remain vigilant and adhere to local authorities’ safety instructions. New Zealand Ambassador to the UAE, Richard Kay, expressed his approval of the revision, noting that it facilitates the possibility for travelers to once again visit or pass through the UAE.
The UAE, particularly Dubai, has been actively working to restore its status as a major international tourism hub. Recent data shows a promising recovery, with Dubai welcoming 869,000 international overnight visitors in August alone, marking the highest number since February. Hotel occupancy rates also saw a significant rise, reaching 66% in August compared to just 36% in March.
In pursuit of bolstering its tourism and aviation industries, the UAE is seeking similar easing of travel advisories from other countries. While several nations have already relaxed their travel warnings, some still recommend increased caution or limit non-essential travel. The adjustment by New Zealand is expected to enhance travel demand between the two countries, supporting the UAE’s ongoing tourism recovery efforts.
