Sennheiser has unveiled its flagship closed-back headphones, the HD 480 PRO, designed specifically for studio and live audio settings. With a focus on precision and comfort, these headphones address common issues associated with closed-backs by providing tight, accurate bass and unparalleled comfort for professionals engaged in recording, tracking, or monitoring tasks, whether in the studio, during live sessions, or on the go.

Closed-back headphones often struggle with low-end reproduction, but the HD 480 PRO stand out by delivering a much tighter and more realistic bass response compared to others in the category. Jimmy R. Landry, Sennheiser’s Category Market Manager for the Music Industry, highlights their remarkable accuracy in the low-end. Meanwhile, Gunnar Dirks, Senior Product Manager for professional headphones, emphasizes the importance of comfort, noting the ergonomic design that eliminates pressure points, making them ideal for long hours of use, even for those wearing glasses.

The HD 480 PRO are crafted for those in the audio industry, from producers and mixers to musicians and engineers. They are versatile enough for studio monitoring, live environments, and mobile use, thanks to their precise frequency response and honest low-end, which ensure reliable audio translation across various audio equipment. Renowned professionals like producer Jim Kaufman and mix engineer Will Brierre praise the headphones for their quality and accuracy, which are essential when mixing outside the studio environment.

To enhance user experience, the HD 480 PRO feature multiple stages of passive sound shielding and ultra-soft ear pads with grooves for glasses. These design elements ensure a good seal for optimal audio reproduction. Sennheiser has included a “Vibration Attenuation System” to minimize unwanted vibrations and reflections, thereby preserving signal clarity. Several patented features, such as Special Axes Geometry for fit and comfort zones for glasses, further enhance the listening experience.

The HD 480 PRO comes with a detachable cable that can be attached to either side, providing flexibility in different recording setups. The earcups are braille-marked for accessibility, and the headphones are built to withstand regular professional use. When choosing between the open-back HD 490 PRO and closed-back HD 480 PRO, Gunnar Dirks suggests considering the working environment: the open-back model is suited for mixing in quiet settings, while the closed-back model is ideal for situations demanding isolation. The HD 480 PRO is priced at AED 1.549, with a plus version that includes a travel case retailing at AED 1,749.
