The Heartland Pivot: US Joins EU, China in Courting Central Asia

by admin477351

The United States is executing a “Heartland Pivot,” joining the EU and China in actively courting the five nations of Central Asia. A major summit with President Donald Trump is now on the calendar for November 6.

This meeting, confirmed by the leaders of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, is the latest in a flurry of high-level engagements for the C5.

The region has become a key geopolitical prize. Russia’s traditional influence has been weakened by the Ukraine war, opening the door for other powers to build new partnerships.

The C5 are rich in natural resources, including rare earths, and are strategically located at the crossroads of Asia and Europe.

This US summit is a clear signal that Washington intends to be a major player in the region, offering an alternative to the models proposed by Beijing and Moscow.
