In an effort to bolster Europe’s cyber and energy resilience, ESET and EVC Group have forged a strategic partnership to develop advanced battery energy storage systems. The collaboration focuses on CyberSec BESS, a new generation of cyber-secure battery energy storage solutions tailored for the European market. This move comes at a critical time as battery storage systems are increasingly vital in supporting power grids and critical energy infrastructure, where cybersecurity is becoming just as crucial as performance and reliability.
The partnership was officially cemented through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), providing a structured framework for the development, certification, and marketing of CyberSec BESS. The partnership was unveiled on June 25, 2026, during Intersolar Europe in Munich, one of the continent’s foremost events dedicated to renewable energy, energy storage, and energy technologies. The project aims to comply with current and forthcoming European Union cybersecurity regulations, ensuring the long-term resilience of critical energy systems.
CyberSec BESS is envisaged to leverage European expertise in cybersecurity, system integration, and certification, combined with global battery manufacturing capabilities. Martin Talian, Chief Corporate Solutions Officer at ESET, emphasized the essential role of battery storage in modern energy infrastructure, advocating for the integration of cybersecurity from the outset rather than as an afterthought. Talian highlighted that this initiative allows ESET to apply its extensive experience in safeguarding critical infrastructure, contributing to an energy sector equipped to handle both current and emerging cyber threats.
Oliver Garaj, Managing Director of EVC Group, stressed that resilient energy infrastructure relies on a holistic systems approach rather than merely piecing together individual technologies. He noted that the partnership combines engineering expertise, advanced energy technologies, and stringent cybersecurity standards to deliver battery storage systems that prioritize security, transparency, operational reliability, and overall strong performance. These qualities, according to the companies, are set to become increasingly critical as Europe continues to modernize its energy sector.
As per the Frost Radar™: Endpoint Security, 2025 report by Frost & Sullivan, ESET is the largest global cybersecurity provider based in Europe. The company provides AI-driven cybersecurity solutions for businesses, individuals, and critical infrastructure across endpoint, cloud, and mobile environments, backed by cutting-edge threat intelligence, encryption, multifactor authentication, and continuous security monitoring. Through this collaboration with EVC Group, ESET aims to enhance Europe’s energy resilience and support the secure implementation of next-generation battery storage technologies.
